A Silent Ocean Away by DeVa Gantt

Several years ago, I’d been in search of something new to read. My best friend suggested the Colette Trilogy by the Gantt sisters, Deb and Val (together, DeVa Gantt), a historical romance with a touch of spookiness. I checked it out and saw that it had good ratings on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Goodreads, but not many reviews. Even a quick Google search only produced one page of relevant results. I was hesitant to purchase them in case they turned out to be a disappointment, and of course my library didn’t stock them. But since they came so highly recommended, I went ahead and bought the first in the series, A Silent Ocean Away

OMG, what a page turner!

This may have been the quickest I’d ever read a series of books. I’m talking, forcing myself to stay up just a little longer even though my eyes were watering, fast. I’ve since read the series four times and gifted the entire set to my mother, who also tore through it in one weekend. Charmaine’s story is one of love (the real kind that makes you ache), family, and the things we do (or don’t do) for both that can haunt us, both literally and figuratively.

If ever a book existed that deserved the title “sweeping historical romance,” this is it. Although the paranormal aspect is somewhat minor, this one would be perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses. So, if you’ve already devoured A Court of Silver Flames and you’re looking for a fix, this might help with that.
